Download our brochure: the semantic layer

A one-page summary of what a semantic layer does for your data, your reporting and your AI - and a diagram of where it sits in your architecture. Free PDF, no form to fill in.

Meaningfy brochure - Trusted Data, Trusted Reporting, Trusted AI

Explaining what a semantic layer is, and why it matters, usually takes a whiteboard. We have put the short version on two sides of paper.

Our brochure is a one-page summary of what Meaningfy does and where it fits in your architecture — written for the conversation you have with a colleague who was not in the room.

What is inside

The front sets out the three outcomes a semantic layer delivers, and what makes each one trustworthy:

  • For your data — break silos and align meaning, so the same business term means the same thing across teams and partners. Connected, consistent, governed.
  • For your reporting — defend every number. Each figure traces back to its source data and business rules, ready for audit, board review, or regulatory scrutiny. Traceable, explainable, defensible.
  • For your AI — AI grounded, not guessing. Models connected to your business meaning give consistent, explainable answers without hallucinations. Deterministic, repeatable, auditable.

It also shows where the semantic layer sits: between the data sources where your information lives and the applications your people actually use.

The back is the architecture in one diagram — how structured, semi-structured and unstructured sources feed through data mapping, labelling and metadata into schemas, ontologies, taxonomies and vocabularies, and out to a knowledge graph your applications can query.

The back of the brochure: data sources, the semantic layer, and the applications on top.

The right-hand side of that page is deliberately blank. It is a grid for sketching — we use it in workshops to map a client’s own landscape onto the same picture. Print it and draw on it.

Who it is for

If you are the person who already understands why shared meaning matters, and you need something to hand to a CIO, a data governance lead, or a sceptical architect, this is that page. It assumes no prior knowledge of ontologies or knowledge graphs.

Talk it through with us

The brochure is the summary; the useful part is the conversation that follows it. Bring a picture of where your data sits, and we look at what it would take to connect it, with you.
